MEDIA STATEMENT March 22, 2007 GREAT SOUTHERN SHOWCASES ITS FOOD AND WINE EXPERIENCES Visitors to the Great Southern region will be able to appreciate the diversity of the wine and food industries of the region through the ‘Great Southern Food and Wine Touring Guide 2007-2008’. The guide, now in its sixth year, was developed by the Great Southern Region Marketing Association (GSRMA) and the Great Southern Wine Producer’s Association. It provides a comprehensive guide to all the wineries and cellar doors in the region, together with farm gate sales, restaurants and accommodation in all wine sub-regions. The GSRMA aims to foster the synergy of food, wine, agriculture and tourism in the Great Southern region as well as promoting and stimulating demand for its products at a State, national and international level. In releasing the guide at the Tourism Better Business Blitz event in Denmark, Chairman of the Great Southern Region Marketing Association, Marie Redman, said that the guide was guaranteed to provide a unique food and wine experience for any visitor to the region. Featured in the guide are recommended trails for all sub-regions, and this year three new food and wine trails have been developed and include Go Taste Albany, the Flavours of Denmark and the Mt Barker Food and wine trail. These trails provide an opportunity for visitors to taste and enjoy the fresh produce of the region as well as the diverse range of value-added products. |
